摘要 An electrophoretic display and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to implement color images through an electrophoretic layer fixed to pixel areas, without an additional adhesive member, and to omit a substrate having electrodes by forming electrodes on the electrophoretic layer. A plurality of red, green, and blue pixel areas(R,G,B) are defined on a TFT array substrate(50). The first electrophoretic layer(65a) is formed at each red pixel area. The second electrophoretic layer(65b) is formed at each green pixel area. The third electrophoretic layer(65c) is formed at each blue pixel area. The first electrophoretic layer comprises the first color capsules(70) and an ultraviolet hardened layer(60). The second electrophoretic layer comprises the second color capsules(80) and the ultraviolet hardened layer. The third electrophoretic layer comprises the third color capsules(90) and the ultraviolet hardened layer. The first through third color capsules are respectively fixed to the red, green, and blue pixel areas, without floating between the TFT array substrate and a counter substrate(100). Concave parts(142,144) are respectively formed between the first electrophoretic layer and the second electrophoretic layer and between the second electrophoretic layer and the third electrophoretic layer. Each concave part separates two neighbor electrophoretic layers from each other.
