A resilient diaphragm comprises a flange-like rim, (12) which is in use clamped to a carrier, with one face lying in a single plane 12a, and an arcuate wall portion 14 integral with and extending inwardly form the plane 12a and to one side thereof to define an annular crown, the wall thickness of the arcuate wall increasing with distance from the clamping rim (12) towards the centre (M).
