<p>The method of adjusting the area of the sail of a sailing boat gives three different areas. The sail (3) has a loop (13) along its vertical edge so that it can be raised and lowered guided by the mast (1). On the top of the mast is a cap (5) with an arm extending from it, with a slot to hold a rope (9) supporting the top of the triangular sail. The rope has three knots (10a, 10b, 10ce along it, and by wedging a selected knot in the slot, one of three heights can be obtained. The bottom corner of the sail nearest the mast has three eyelets (11a, 11b, 11c) in a vertical line giving three alternative depths, to which the sail is unfurled, by passing a rope (15) through a selected eyelet and attaching it to a cleat at the bottom of the mast. A wishbone (2) extending from the mast can be secured at one od three selected points by three eyelets (12a, 12b, 12c) on the other corner of the sail.</p> |
