PURPOSE:To protect a mirror-finished plate from damage by eliminating unnecessary grinding. This is accomplished by detecting foreign matters on the mirror- finished plate by means of a foreign matter detector, and by removing the foreign matters. CONSTITUTION:A mirror-finished plate, having passed through a grinder 2, is transfered to the first foreign matter detector 4 and there, presence of foreign matters on the plate is examined. If the plate has no foreign matter, it is transfered through a duct 3 to a build-up position 11, but if foreign matters are detected on the mirror-finished plate, the first foreign matter detector 4 memories their positions, then the plate is transfered by the first conveyor 7 to a by-path 5, where a foreign matter remover 6 receives the mirror-finished plate with foreign matters on it and removes the foreign matters whose positions have been memorized earlier. Finally, the presence of the foreign matter is reexamined by the second foreign matter detector 8 and if there is none on the plate, it is stored in a storage conveyor 9 so that the plate is transfered from the conveyor 9 to the build-up position 11 next time when foreign matters are detected on another plate. |
