PURPOSE:To obtain a display effect featuring a sufficient depth as well as to facicilitate an easy acceptance of the information by giving a partial difference to the distance between the liquid crystal layer and the substrate forming the reflecting surface. CONSTITUTION:Substrate 51, which is provided at the lower part of liquid crystal display panel 100 using thinned lower substrate 23, features the uneven structure partially, and its surface is formed with diffused reflecting surface 510 to which the silver plating is applied with the coarsened substrate of the phosphor bronze plate or the like. Liquid crystal layer A and B corresponding to the uneven part have the different distances from surface 510. The display at layer A has a high contrast like the characters written on the paper by the display effect obtained by the thinned lower substrate; while the display at layer B features the embossed display like the normal TN mode. Thus, if the uneven part is formed according to the degree of notice to the many display elements on the display screen, the display can feature a high degree of notice with a sufficient depth. The back surface can also be made into a mirror surface to diffuse the light by coarsening the surface of the glass or the plastics containing the uneven part in place of the light diffusing surface of substrate 51. |
