<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a carboxylic acid derivative which is an intermediate for medicines having hypotensive and antiagglutinating actions, by hydrolyzing the cyano group of a reaction intermediate derived from an alkyloyl-1,2-3,4-tetrahydro- quinoline. CONSTITUTION:A cyano compound of formula V: (R<1> and R<2> are H or lower alkyl groups; Z is O or H2) is hydrolyzed to form a carboxylic acid derivative of formula I. The compound of formula V is obtained by subjecting a compound of formula II with formalin or an amine hydrochloride to the Mannich reaction to give a compound of formula III, which is quaternized and reacted with a compoun of the formula MCN (M is Na or K). 4-(1,2,3,4-Tetrahydro-2-oxo-1-methyl-quinoline- b-y1)-4-oxo-3-methyl-butanoic acid may be cited as the compound of formula I.</p> |
