The panel-shaped, heat-insulating structural part is particularly suitable as a facade element for cladding building walls. The structural part exhibits an outer panel (10), a heat-insulating layer (14), consisting of foam and arranged on the outer-panel rear side, which side, when the structural part is installed, is directed away from the outer surface of the building, and a terminating trough (12) which encloses the insulating layer and the peripheral flange of which is connected to the edge of the outer panel (10). The insulating layer (14) consists of a material which is foamed in situ and adhesively bonds the terminating trough (12) to the outer panel (10). When producing the structural part, an expandable material mixture is first of all introduced into the terminating trough (12). Thereafter, the outer panel (10) is placed thereon and, finally, the material mixture is expanded, while lifting the outer panel (10) up to the edge of the peripheral flange of the terminating trough (12), in order to form the foam insulating layer (14). Consequently, firm adhesive bonding between the three main constituents of the structural part is obtained without using additional adhesive bondings or other interconnection means. <IMAGE>
