A tilting scoop is fitted on a furnace contg. molten metal driven by compressed air up a pipe so the metal enters the scoop. A sensor is located in the scoop and, when the molten metal reaches the bottom end of the sensor. the compressed air supply to the furnace is cut off. The sensor is pref. located via an arm on the top end of a piston rod driven by a work cylinder to lower the sensor into the scoop, and also to life the sensor before the scoop is tilted. The piston rod is also fitted with a roller running along a curved track so the sensor is also swung sideways when lifted, so it is remote from the scoop. A simple appts. provides an accurate vol. of molten metal for the die casting machine.
|
