Wire rolling mill - with swivelling spray nozzles between stands and swivelling roll sets

In a wire rolling mill, spray nozzles are arranged between the rolling mill stands and apply a coolant only to the sections where the preceding pass effected a maximum reduction ratio. The directions of the max. and min. redn. can be changed in a subsequent stand by turning a plate with the two roll pairs through half the angle between the perpendiculars to adjacent profile sides. Wire of given mechanical properties can be produced by this system from steel of difficult deformability and low ductility outside the temp. range where a deformation ageing process can occur.
