A filter nonwoven is described for filtering polymer melts from which synthetic endless filaments are produced, preferably in the high-speed spinning process. The object to be achieved is the creation of a nonwoven filter body for filtering a polymer melt, which filter body makes possible a specific influence on the residence time of the melt in the nonwoven filter body. The nonwoven filter body has an elastic component, composed of a cured bonding composition, and, crosslinked by it in an irregular distribution, an inelastic component made of polyfilament layer-stabilised glass fibres having a filament diameter of less than or equal to 5 mu m. The nonwoven filter body is enclosed in a supporting manner by holding devices, for example made of glass silk roving cloth or sieve fabric made of high-alloy steel.
