PURPOSE:To provide the title catalyst component giving an alpha-olefin (co)polymer of superior stereoregularity in combination with an org. Al cpd. by copulverizing and/or contacting a Mg halide, a tetravalent Ti halide, an org. acid ester and an org. halogen cpd. CONSTITUTION:A system is copulverized and/or contacted consisting of a Mg halide such as anhydrous MgCl2, a tetravalent Ti halide such as TiCl4, an org. acid ester such as ethyl benzoate and an org. halogen cpd. such as CCl4. It is esp. desirable to mechanically pulverize the system using a vibration mill, ball mill or the like. The amt. of the org. acid ester used is 0.1-10 mols per gram atom of Ti metal, and that of the org. halogen cpd. 1-100 wt% to the Mg halide. The resulting Ti catalyst component exhibits high activity and stereoregularity in (co) polymn. of alpha-olefins in combination with an org. Al component such as Al(C2H5)3.
