Descending film evaporator has vertical heating tubes which are supported in horizontal plates. The tubes stand out above the top plate which has double walls to form a cavity for a coolant or a heat insulating medium. This creates a uniform liq. film across the whole inner tube surface, yet it prevents the pickup of heat by the liq. from the top plate during the film distribution.
