<p>Prodn. of soluble copolymers contg. 4.0-5.5 (4.1-4.8) (wt.)% OH gps., which can be cross-linked with organic polyisocyanates, from mixts. of 20-25.9% styrene (I), 20-24% methyl methacrylate (II), 18-24% hydroxyethyl methacrylate (III), 8.5-11% acrylic acid (IV) and 29.0-35.0% glycidyl esters (V) of (a) gamma-alkyl-and/or (b) gamma, gamma-dialkyl-alkanoic acids of the formula C13H24C3 comprises heating to effect esterification and polymerisation in inert organic solvents in the presence of polymerisation initiators and opt. chain stoppers. Novelty is that (IV) and (V), in 1.01-1.1:1.0 molar ratio, are esterified to a monomeric cpd. (VI) and this is mixed with (I), (II) and (III) at first under conditions unsuitable for polymerisation and then copolymerised. The copolymer is useful for reactive lacquers and coatings.</p> |
