Solar energy collector with long heat-transferring tube - and heat conducting plate cast to embed the tube

The heat transferring units of a solar energy collector consist of a heat conducting plate, and set in this, a tube of material which is resistant to the corrosive action of the heat conveying medium, and the tube is completely embedded in the heat conducting plate by casting metal all round it, up to the joint fittings. The wall thickness of the heat conducting plate, where it encloses the tube, corresp. to the thickness of the plate close to the tube and for pref. to the wall thickness of the tube also. Intimate contact is thus maintained between a relatively long pipe and the heat conducting plate over its whole length.
