The internally coded roll is formed by a cylindrical body (1) jacketed by a metal shell (4). The shell is immobilised mechanically on the cylindrical body, at least at its two ends, on the one hand by radial hooping and on the other hand by axial immobilising by means of nuts (5, 6). This roll, by its design, aims to require a lower level of maintenance than existing rolls. <IMAGE>
