A platform (60, 62) is arranged on a pair of two-arm lifting scissors (52). The platform has a frame piece (60) which is U-shaped in outline and has a crossbar (74) and two limbs (72). A ramp piece (62) extends the frame piece (60) and can be pivoted on a pivot axis (64) upwards (62') and downwards relative to the frame piece (60) so as to be able to bridge the gap between two different levels, e.g. between a ramp (84) and a lorry bridge, without it being necessary for the platform to be adjusted to each of these levels. A lifting element (66) is arranged between the frame piece (60) and the ramp piece (62). Lifting elements (54) which are controlled by means of a hydraulic assembly (82) serve to lift platform (60, 62).
