The high-temp. housing comprises a base (1) with extension (2) accommodating the measuring head (3). The base is made of a heat-resistance plastics which is a poor thermal conductor. The cover plate (4) is of thermally conducting material such as aluminium. A thermally conducting plate (6) is supported on a circular lip (5) formed in the base. A central aperture allows the leads from the head to pass through to a circuit board (11) which is attached to the cover assembly. An insulating layer (15) fills the space between the circuit board and the plate beneath it. A further thermally conducting plate (8) clamps the base component to the upper metal cover. The latter is fitted with cooling fins (13) and internal ribs (10) to which the circuit board is attached. The inner space is filled with a heat sink compound such as thermally conducting silicone rubber (14).
