1496086 Burners PLESSEY CO Ltd 30 Jan 1976 [19 Feb 1975] 6949/75 Heading F4T [Also in Divisions F1 and F2] An ultrasonically vibrated liquid atomizer (e.g. a fuel injector) comprises a nozzle portion 4, a body portion 6, 8 containing a vibrator (piezoelectric element 8) and a cover 10 fitting over the body portion 6, 8 wherein resilient means 34 mounts the body portion 6, 8 within the cover 10 and is located by a locator 32. As shown in Fig. 1, the locator 32 is a flange and the resilient means a rubber 0-ring, which when the atomizer is a fuel injector in an I.C. engine seals the connection between the cover 10 and an engine manifold 18. In Fig. 4, the locator is a groove 54 in which a resilient rubber 0-ring seats. In an alternative (Fig. 3, not shown) the 0-ring does not seal between the cover and the engine manifold. The atomizer may be used as a fuel injector for central heating burners or as a chemical or paint sprayer. |
