METHOD FOR RECOVERING SULFUR

PURPOSE:To efficiently recover S and H2 from gas contg. H2S by allowing the gas to react with an aq. soln. of a tervalent iron salt at the melting temp. of S or above, separating the resulting S and electrochemically treating the remaining aq. soln. CONSTITUTION:Gas contg. H2S is allowed to react with an aq. iron salt soln. contg. tervalent Fe ions at the m.p. of S or above to produce S in a molten state. This S is separated and recovered and the remaining aq. soln. is electrochemically treated to recover said aq. iron salt soln. contg. tervalent Fe ions and H2. The recovered iron salt soln. is reused as said H2S absorbing soln.
