<p>The reinforcement plate (P) is fixed to the edge of the door, cantilevering laterally to incorporate an opening (B), traversed by the bolt. The fixing screws (S), thus, align parallel to the major door plane and act in shear when attempts are made to force the door. The plate may be of a lateral 'T' shape, the vertical member being fixed to the door, and the horizontal member cantilevering out to provide bolt openings. Security may be further enhanced by the use of a box staple incorporating two pivoting ancillary bolts (2, 3) actuated by penetration of the prim. bolt.</p> |
