The lead (13) advancing mechanism comprises a clamp (5) interacting with a sliding and axially moveable sleeve to clamp the lid (13) and push it through the lead guiding tube (9). The lead guiding tube (9) is extended in the form of a split sleeve (17) possessing longitudinal fingers (18) which engage between the longitudinal fingers (19) of the clamp (5). The lead (13) is thus guided the full length of its path between the clamp (5) and the lead guiding tube (9) so that even a very short length of this lead (13) cannot escape as it moves between the clamp (5) and the lead guiding tube (9) and obstruct the operation of the lead advancing mechanism. <IMAGE>
