Planetary feeder for consumable welding wire - where electromagnet forces skew feeder rollers against the welding wire

The feeder is used on a conventional welding machine, and uses a motor with a driven shaft contg. an axial hole through which the wire travels. A bush contg. an axial hole for the wire is fixed on the shaft; and a U-shaped bracket is welded on the bush. Each leg of the U-bracket carries a skew roller running on, and thus feeding, the wire. The blush also carries a sliding holder contg. an electromagnet so the holder can be clamped onto the U-bracket. The holder has two arms, each fitted with a roller applying pressure to the legs of the U-bracket when electric current is fed to the magnet; the pressure causes the skew rollers to engage with, and feed the wire. The feeder has a simple construction but long working life.
