<p>A magnetic recording disc is provided with continuous coating layers of uniform thickness and free from physical irregularities, the layers comprising (a) a support layer of a magnetic compsn. comprising Ni or an alloy of Ni with Co, P, B or W, (b) a shield layer comprising a non-ferrous, non-magnetic metal or metal alloy, and (c) a magnetic recording alloy layer. The support layer is sufficiently thick to retard scratching and furrowing of layer (c) and its surface in contact with layer (b) is in semi-glossy, semi-crystalline form resistant to abrasion and furrowing. The shield layer is sufficiently thick to reflect an electrical signal applied to layer (c). The disc has good abrasion resistance and good magnetic recording characteristics.</p> |
