A heat exchanger comprises ducts of large surface area which are spaced apart, are parallel and have parallel and opposed grooves in their external surfaces. Into each pair of opposed groups, a strip of material, transversely slit to form a series of openings, is engaged fitting closely into the grooves. The central longitudinal zone of each strip is flat and the edge longitudinal zones are at an obtuse angle, more specifically 135 degrees, to the plane of the central zone; these edge longitudinal zones lie both on the same side of the central zone. Pref. each groove on the outer face of a duct is of V section with an angle of 90 degrees at the apex. The surfaces of the strips are in contact with both faces of this groove. Used partic. but not exclusively, for a liq.-gas heat exchanger, more specifically for a dry cooling tower with natural draught operation. The heat transfer system can be made up of amin. number of basic components and can be easily assembled in modular construction. |
