PURPOSE: To attain low variability with respect to temperature change by providing twe optically contacted optical fibers in a substitute to decrease stress externally induced on the fiber in an optical contact area. CONSTITUTION: A polarization plane preservation optical fiber 3 is provided with a clad 2 and a core 4. Stress members 6 are arranged so as to be opposed to each other in a diameter direction to the core, cooled and contracted to a larger level than the clad, and pulling is generated to a radial direction shown by an arrow 5. As a result, resultant stress can be generated to the direction of an axis 10 different from the stress in an orthogonal axis 12 in the surrounding of the core. Each axis of the stress induces corresponding plural refraction axes. Thus, the stress externally induced on the fiber in an optical contact area is reduced, and an optical connector having performance improved at a normal temperature and a large thermal working range is obtained. |
