Electromechanical switch for closing and opening circuits in telecommunication, esp telephone, installations is claimed where each contact, depending on its intended function e.g. as closing, opening or selector switch, make-before-break, sequence switch or the like, has >=1 elastic pad, e.g. of foam rubber. These pads are compressed, against the useful elastic force when the contact lever(s) are operated after which the resiliency of the thus-compressed pad(s) causes the lever(s) to be returned into the starting position as soon as the contact is no longer being operated. The contact arrangement, including pad(s) and lever(s) is installed in a transparent casing e.g. of glass, PMMA or the like, to protect it from dust and for easy inspection.
