PURPOSE:To make it possible to view clearly a display pattern in color by the eye in both the daytime and nighttime by arranging a passive reflector at the anti- penetration side of a cell and by inserting a color polarizer between a couple of polarizers with polarizers and the polarization axis made to intersect. CONSTITUTION:Between a couple of polarizers 9 and 10 with polarization axes parallel mutually, twist liquid-crystal cell 1 is interposed which has transparent electrodes 4 and 5. Then, passive reflector 8 is arranged at the anti-penetration side of cell 1 and between both polarizers 9 and 10, color polarizer 11 is inserted with polarizers made to intersect the polarization axis. Consequently, both advantages of display units of a penetrative type liquid crystal and a reflective type liquid crystal can be obtained and in either daytime or nighttime, a dispaly pattern can be viewed clearly by the eye in color. |
