A bearing assembly comprises two axiallyspaced rolling bearings 2, two bushes 4 which are axially movable relative to each other, each bush fixedly carrying a race ring, means 7a, 4a for preventing rotation of the bushes, and hydraulic means for biasing the bushes in opposite directions parallel to the bearing axis, thereby to axially preload the bearings. Pressure fluid is supplied from an annular passage 12 to piston faces 6, 9 via grooves 13, 14. The annular bush 7 is secured in the housing by a pin 8. |
