VOLUME AIR FLOW SHEET TRANSPORT CONVEYOR SYSTEM

System for transport of sheet material, particularly flexible sheets such as paper or the like. A continuous belt either of flexible, porous material or solid spaced apart belts is supported at each end by a roller one of which is driven. The conveyor belt extends unsupported between the two rollers. The rollers and continuous belt are enclosed to the extent possible. The bottom of the enclosure is provided with a fan for drawing a mass volume flow of air through and around the belt or belts. The enclosure is not sealed to any of the parts but insures that the major portion of the air volume drawn by the fan passes through the belt system and out through the fan. This transport system relies on a column of air moving through or around the belt or belts to hold the sheet material positively thereon as it moves.
