The motor vehicle headlight uses an incandescent filament lamp, whose filament is arranged in front of the parabolic mirror focus. The lens has horizontal strip shaped prisms in its lower part. Light intensity directly below the bright and dark boundary is increased. The light deflecting effect of each prism is reduced towards both sides in such a manner that all different images of the filament (1) will be adjacent directly on the straight bright and dark zone boundary. The prisms are divided in a number of horizontally side-by-side arranged sections in which the given prismatic deflecting effect is constant.
