The cam follower or similar device used to convert rotary motion in reciprocating motion has a spindle with a ball mounted at one end. The ball is held against the curved face of the cam, following its shape. The end of the spindle is hollow, and holds the ball so that it projects for less than half its diameter. The hollow end houses a pressure disc made of PTFE and the tip of the wall of the hollow part is betn inwards to retain the ball with sufficient play.
