PURPOSE:To control the life of flexible discs by providing the recording part of the gross total rotation times information of the discs themselves. CONSTITUTION:When the processing using a flexible disc 1a is finished, a central processing unit 16 reads out the content of the counter for rotation times built in a drive unit 11 and adds the same to the contents having been written in the memory region 31 of a main memory device 8. Parallel with these processings, whether the contents of the memory region 31 or 32 of the main memory device 17 have reached the upper limits of the predetermined rotation times and error occurrence times or not is discriminated. When these exceed the respective upper limits, the central processing unit 16 performs the displaying to the effect that said flexible disc has exceeded its service limit to an output unit 13. |
