1536714 Aqueous lapping compositions H T THROWER 13 Feb 1976 [14 Feb 1975 14 Jan 1976] 05849/76 Heading C3V [Also in Division C5] An aqueous lapping composition is formed from inorganic grinding grit and a gel comprising 0À3 to 1À25 weight per cent of a carboxy vinyl polymer at least 0À13 weight per cent of a surfactant water and sufficient base to provide a pH of 7 to 9 and if necessary additional water. Exemplified compositions are prepared from a carboxyl polymethylene or a blend of two such polymers, NaOH, formalin, nonionic surfactant, water and in some cases glycerine or ethylene glycol and either alumina or silicon carbide grit. The compositions are of particular use for sharpening lawn mower blades. |
