omega -<123>I-labelled fatty acid is prepared in the conventional manner from omega -bromo fatty acid and the mixture obtained is separated chromatographically on a column with a packing whose grain size lies in the range 5-30 mu m using an eluent passed through the column under pressure. The resulting product is at a sufficient activity that the amount of solvent required for injection of it is tolerable to the patient.
