<p>The thread cutting lathe has a cross slide (10) mounted on a saddle (8), the latter encountering a stop cylinder (42) which acts with auto clutches to control slide movements. The cross slide has a tool holder and an adjustable stop cylinder used to determine transverse tool location. Either slide can be coupled with a slow or a rapid advance mechanism, the former being coupled through pinions to the prim. drive shaft, and the cross being similarly coupled to a shaft from an independent motor. Incremental advance of the stop cylinders is controlled by electro magnetic clutches, a single switch (23) effecting the energisation of both the electromagnets and a relay feeding a drum.</p> |
