PURPOSE:An 2-alkoxyalkoxy-5 amino benzene-sulfonic acid of formula I: (R' is >=2C alkylene group; R<2> is alkyl group). CONSTITUTION:Sodium 2-(2-methoxy ethoxy)-5-amino-benzene sulfonate. USE:An intermediate for redox compounds for discharging dyes used for color diffusion transfer, particularly having improved transferability, durability, and hue, capable of giving yellow or magneta pigment images, and free from hue change over a wide pH range. PROCESS:A compound of formula A is reacted with an alkoxide of the formula R<2>- O-R'-ONa to give the compound of formula B. The nitro groups of formula B is reduced to give the objective compound of formula I.
