PURPOSE:To improve the workability and durability of optical fiber connections using a connector by making the connector element of a substance, which is transmissive to an ultraviolet ray, and by using a paint (or adhesive) of an ultraviolet set type. CONSTITUTION:A connector 1 is composed of a V groove substrate 8 formed with a V-shaped groove 3, a case body 4 formed with a holding groove 8, a cover 5, and a fiber clamp 7 formed with a holding groove 9. All of those parts (or only the cover 5) are made of a substance which is transmissive to an ultraviolet ray. The ends Fa and Fa of optical fibers F and F to be connected are brought into abutment, while being fitted in the V-shaped groove 3, and a paint of ultraviolet set type is applied to the upper side of the substrate 2 and the both sides and bottom of the case 4. The cover 5 is fitted in the case 4 and forced into the substrate 2. The fiber clamp 7 is fitted in each side of the cover 5 so as to hold the other ends Fb and Fb of the fibers. Then, the connector 1 is exposed to an ultraviolet ray to set the paint for the connecting purpose. |
