Dyes which as the free acid correspond to the formula (I) are new. In (I) A is the residue of a diazotisable aromatic amine of formula A-NH2, but does not belong to the pyrene series; M is an opt. substd, 1,4-phenylene or naphthylene radical R is H or a 1-4C alkyl; n is 0 or 1; and Q is a radical toward cellulose. (I) can be used to dye a wide range of textiles contg. hydroxyl or amino gps. e.g. wool, silk, synthetic polyamides, and natural or regenerated cellulose such as cotton or viscose; and mixts. of these fibres with polyesters. (I) give dyeings of good wash fastness and astness to other wet treatments. (I) mount and fix well and any unfixed dye is easily washed off. |
