1501972 Bactericides and fungicides CIBAGEIGY AG 21 Jan 1975 [22 Jan 1974] 2596/75 Heading A5E [Also in Division Dl] A fungistatic or bactericidal textile finishing agent formulation which is stable in halogenated hydrocarbons, contains (a) 5-79.7% by weight of at least one textile finishing agent which is a fungistatic or bactericide, (b) 15- 89.7% by weight of a halogenated hydrocarbon, as solvent, (c) 5-40% by weight of a humectant, and (d) 0.3-8% by weight of a cellulose derivative, as thickening agent. The halogenated hydrocarbon is preferably perchloroethylene, trichloroethylene, or 1, 1, 1-trichloroethane. The humectant is soluble in the halogenated hydrocarbon, and is preferably a high boiling, non-azeotrope-forming substance e.g. a glycol such as 2-methyl-2, 4-pentane diol, a phthalic acid ester, an ethoxylated alkyl phenyl derivative (9 or 35 EO), an ethoxylated fatty alcohol (35 EO), tetramethyl urea, a block copolymer of ethylene and propylene oxide, a glycerin-propylene oxide adduct or a polyoxyalkylene derivative of ethylene diamine. The thickening agent is soluble in the halogenated hydrocarbon and is preferably acetyl cellulose, ethyl cellulose or an ammonium salt of cellulose sulphate. The compositions may be solutions, emulsions or, dispersions or pastes having storage stability and do not form encrustations. In use they may be diluted to prepare organic, especially perchloroethylene, liquors. The latter are used for the continuous finishing of textile materials (see Div. D1-2). |
