Sync. linear motor with stationary windings - incorporates DC transmission and local inverters of modular form

The synchronous linear motor control system design is modified by replacing the AC power transmission to the individual stationary windings with a DC system. The necessary inversion is carried out locally at each winding by an inverter of modular form. The DC transmission eliminates inductive losses and interference in the connections. The local modular construction gives units of less power than the centralised inverter of the original design. This enables the use of bipolar high power transistors which gives a simplification of the inverter controls.
