PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound, important as an industrial raw material, in high selectivity, without forming side-products, by the reaction of 1,3-butadience with carboxylic acid and molecular oxygen using Pd and an organic iodide as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:1,4-Diacyloxybutene-2 is prepared by the reaction of 1,3-butadiene with carboxylic acid (preferably acetic acid) and molecular oxygen, using a composite catalyst comprising Pd and 0.3-3 gram atom of an organic iodide (methyl iodide, phenyl iodide etc.) per 1 gram atom of Pd supported on active carbons. The reaction is preferably carried out, in liquid phase containing 0.5-100g of Pd per 1l reaction solution. The reaction temp. is preferably 60-130 deg.C. |
