<p>The silence casing consists of two semi-elliptical shells with circumferential flutes. The exhaust gas inlet cone has two inlet pipes, and the outlet cone has one exhaust outlet pipe. The honeycomb monolithic catalyst is coated by a mat of yielding material. The assembly of the two shells cause the mat to be forced into the flutes and to secure the catalyst radially and axially. This creates a simple, inexpensive, yet reliable mounting for the monolithic catalyst. It offers adequate resistance to thermal stresses and to mechanical shocks.</p> |
