Phthalidyl ester of 6-[di(-)α-aminophenylacetamido penicillanic acid(I) was prepd. by reacting methylene-(bis)-α-aminophenylacetamidopenicillanic salt(III) with 3-bromophthalide which was obtained by acylating α-bromobenzylchloroformate in the presence of Lewis acid or by a general manufg. method, in aprotic solvent in the presence of catalyst to give phthalidyl ester(II).
