Door threshold assembly made from universal components - has panel layers in inverted U=profile with arms overlapping floor rail

The door threshold, is assembled from a floor rail-type bar which interconnects the posts of the fixed doorframe, and a downward-open sill profile unit attachable to the bar. The threshold profile unit(8) is U-shaped in cross-section. It overlaps the floor bar (6) at the sides with its downward-facing shanks (12), and fits on top of it with panel-shaped intervening layers(9). These are pref. made of non-metallic insulating material, of moderate thickness and stacked inside the threshold profile. This produces a readily variable and widely applicable threshold, and enhances insulation.
