The sandwich element (5) is formed from a foam panel (11) serving as core and from a laminating material (17/23) fitted on its two flat sides. Said laminating material projects beyond the core on one end surface, to be precise the two laminating layers (17/23) project beyond the core (11) on the same end surface or one laminating layer projects beyond the core on one end surface and the other laminating layer on an end surface parallel thereto. It is also possible that one laminating layer projects beyond the core on two end surfaces, forming a corner, and the other laminating layer projects beyond the core on the same two end surfaces, or else on the two end surfaces parallel thereto. Sandwich elements of this type are used, in particular, as roof elements for industrial buildings. <IMAGE>
