When it is closed, a switch (S), manually operated, sets the watch into a condition of reduced consumption with a view, for example, to its storage. In this condition of the switch, the outputs of the flip-flops of the divider (3) are held at zero and the control circuit (4) for the display (5) is off; a transistor (T2), connected to an inverter (2), is also off whilst another transistor (T1), connected to a flip-flop (FF1), is momentarily on, only for the brief duration of the pulses delivered by this flip-flop. After opening the switch (S), the first pulse from the flip-flop (FF1) renders the transistors (T1 and T2) conducting, ensuring the return of the watch to normal running. <IMAGE>
