<p>The valve unit comprises a single trunnion-mounted (1) ball (3) valve, whose spherical plug (3) rotates continuously and controls inlet and exhaust to and from the cylinder. The plug dia. is = that of the cylinder and the trunnion ends (1) are hollow, rotate in bearings (2 6), and are provided with seals (Z). The upper ball valve housing half (4) may have a cooling jacket (5), and so may the lower housing half in the cylinder head (7) to cool the port (8) to the cylinder. Lubrication with cyclic action may be provided.</p> |
