Molten hexachlorobenzene by-product from perchloroethylene/carbon tetrachloride manufacture is collected by dispersing it in water which causes it to solidify and form a slurry and the slurry is then passed through a filter/package device which removes the solid hexachlorobenzene by-product from the slurry and also serves as a container for the solid material. The filter/package device comprises a housing (8) having an opening for admiting slurry, means (81) to allow liquid to flow out of a storage space defined by said housing and an interior liner (9) formed as a filter medium so that solid material can be recovered from the slurry.
