The coverings can be used for conductors, tubes, sections etc. It is made by attaching a silane cpd. on the molecules of a base material, such as olefin polymers or olefin copolymers, elastomers or thermoplastic rubber, by the action of a wettable by moisture material. The coverings are extruded in layers, possibly separated from each other, and the cable etc., passes through a tube containing under pressure a humid or dry gas atmosphere, pref. an inert gas atmosphere. Moisture can be added outside this tube, if required. The inert gas is pref. supplied as nitrogen heated to 180 degrees C. |
