<p>A multi-layer device suitable for the colorimetric determination of the presence of a particular compound in a test solution is disclosed. The first layer contains an agent capable of concentrating the particular compound onto the surface of the layer, when the device is placed in a solution containing the particular compound. Subsequent reagent layers are incorporated as required to supply reagents, through diffusion, as needed to produce the end result of a color reaction on the first layer. Barrier layers may be incorporated between reagent layers. A new colorimetric method for the detection of morphine is also disclosed which may be adapted for use with the multi-layer device.</p> |
